I've seen more Toshiba Satellites popping up lately than any other laptops. I don't know if that's a sign for anything particular. Except that you have a selection to choose from. Today it's time to take a look at one of the newcomers, Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370. Below I'll try to determine whether it'd be good choice for you.

Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 is indeed a new release. Yet I found out that on it was on a little discount, beating the price on manufacturer's page. Also free shipping was provided by the Amazon store. If you want to find out more, why not to check it out directly at them.

People buy laptops for many different purposes. Below are my recommendations for several user demographics.

Casual Users:

One of the most important things for casual users is the price. Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 falls in the category of 500 hundred buck laptops which price-wise makes it excellent choice for your casual computer needs.

How about for performance? Well, you don't need lots of it. This Toshiba has enough and some more for your Internet browsing, email and Skype use. It also features full-sized keyboard which many find convenient to have (you can use the numpad on right hand side for easy numbers access).

Looking at Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370, I don't see many bad things should a student get it either. It's easy on the wallet yet still capable of dealing with student apps and entertainment.

The laptop weights around 5 pounds and has 15.6" monitor. That's very typical size for a notebook which allows you to carry it effortlessly. The 4 hour battery life is just average, although many lecture halls have power sockets nowadays.

It doesn't probably come as a surprise to you, but Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 wouldn't really work for gaming. Games require graphics performance which this laptop sadly doesn't offer.

You see, this Toshiba has Intel HD Graphics engine which is definitely a slow one. It's not even a real graphics card but a rather small graphics chip integrated with the processor. As it offers under-powered performance, reducing the settings a lot in the latest games would have to happen all the time.

That said, older and less demanding games would still run if some eye candy could be sacrificed. But I wouldn't still call this laptop a gamer's choice - not only because of the graphics card, but the monitor size is bit on the low side for you.

Power Users:

One can't easily call Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 a power laptop. It comes with dual-core CPU and 4GB RAM. Those can run basic programs easily, but when it comes to multitasking process-intensive apps you might run into problems.

That said, I still do photo editing with a system similar to this. But I don't exactly do it every day. Also due to laptop's limitation of screen size, editing graphics and video would be less convenient than with a big, full-size PC screen.

The storage size plays important role for those who deal with big files. This Toshiba comes with 500GB hard drive. For dealing with huge files (more than 10MB) on daily basis it's not enough. For, say, programming it's still sufficient.

Business Users:

Like any other budget laptop, also Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 works for businesses. At least those enterprises who don't require extra performance for their specialized needs (like 3D modeling and stuff). This Toshiba runs MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint no problem.

I mentioned earlier about having the full-sized keyboard an advantage. Well, for casual users that's usually the case. But if you type a lot you might actually find it a hindrance. Having the numpad on right hand side "pushes" the keyboard and trackpad to left which many (at least me) find annoying to type with. It's sort of hard to hit the buttons with shifted keyboard. To combat that issue, get a smaller laptop.

Well, if that's no concern to your business, this Toshiba isn't bad choice. As discussed, the performance is enough for you. Also the mobility isn't too bad at 5.4 pounds. Taking this notebook to wherever you travel won't become a problem.

See how it compares to other laptops!

Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 Summary

What makes Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 differ from other budget laptops? To be honest, nothing. It's just another well-made and balanced low-cost notebook to cater most users' computer needs. With the modest specs of dual-core CPU and 4GB RAM you'll have happy times running most of the apps.

Still, the small group of power users and hardcore gamers would do well to stay away from this Toshiba. The performance is only so-so for heavy programs and outright bad for serious gaming. But probably that's not so big surprise to you: to go big you must also pay big.

With that being said, getting basic things done with Toshiba Satellite C55T-A5370 is a breeze. If you don't need a powerhouse or gaming rig, consider this notebook. I think any casual user would be satisfied with it.
